Marton Mere 2006

Welcome to Marton Mere

Well, we recently visited Marton Mere and didn't really know what to expect. Just a short journey for us taking about an hour and of course going for the Easter break we knew it was gonna be busy. Boy was it!

We arrived and booked in straight away, very quick check in time. We then got to our caravan which was tidy and clean as you would expect, so a great start to our break.

We looked around the park which had the usual facilities. Arcades, Outdoor Sports Area, Crazy Golf, Rory Shop, Showbar, Aqua bar, Swimming Baths, Convenience store, everything you need really.

The Showbar was lovely to look at with the Blackpool tower in the middle, but it would have been maybe slightly better if it was just a little bigger. The Aqua bar was very nice too, the place to go for all your proper menu food right beside the swimming pool with wicked plasma on the wall and a great size bar too.

Other places to eat were the convenience store for your pies, pasties and sandwiches etc. A chip shop for all the usual chippy stuff and on the side of the Rory shop was the Rollover section. Even better, they did burgers and pies too! Shame they had no onions or cheese just to make it perfect.

There was also the three and four wheel Bike Hire which was a great laugh and a definite must try. I think it was six pounds for half an hour with a ten pound returnable deposit, great fun though.

The whole park was very clean and we saw a bloke going round with a blower to keep everywhere tidy twice in our three day stay and another guy collecting any bigger rubbish that the wind had blown around, so the park looked really clean and tidy as did the complex area too.

So what were the staff like? Well, everyone on park was just so polite and they all seemed well trained in their jobs. Some of the Glass Collectors looked like a scene from 'Benny Hill'. They looked as if they were on fast forward, they moved so quick. Very efficient.

The Lifeguards were great, the whole team in there were. Security were great, friendly, but still there to do the job. The service at the bars was good especially considering how busy it was.

People that stood out around the complex would be Claire (Lifeguard by day and Rory shop by night). Most people would crack under the pressure of how busy the shop was, but she did a wicked job. Also Sylvia seemed to be running about everywhere selling the light up stuff and balloons, as well as helping in the shop. Finally, the main complex person that stood out would be Assistant Complex Manager Lisa. I think everywhere we went, she was there. I'm sure she did every job on park herself at some point. She was like wonder woman. A great example for others to follow, well done Lisa.

Now onto the Funstars. Well what can I say, It's the first time we have seen Jamie and he is just so funny. He is quick witted in everything he does, such a funny guy. I haven't laughed that much in ages. How could you not have had a fun time on your holidays. There was also Annie who we have met before and love so much. We were so gutted as we thought we wouldn't get to hear her sing as there are now the ShowTeams, but lucky for us, we did get to hear Annie and Jamie sing! A great treat to round the holiday off. We saw Manda who we had met before but we didn't recognise her as she had lost so much weight. She was great all week and pretty much up for anything, such a laugh. There was Jenny who we had not before before, we really liked her, she's a star. Really hope we get to see her again. Then there was Katie. She's a mad one in purely a good way. I thought she was wicked too and finally there was Kals. She was a wicked dancer when it came to the party dances and a great Funstar that we had not met before. Altogether, a superb Marton Mere Team and they have bonded so well so quickly. We felt at home on the first day and felt we had bonded with them from the off, a truly amazing team.

So would we go again.....? Definitely, we would love to go again. The staff all round the park were great and very friendly which creates a winning holiday atmosphere we thought. A small park for a whole week but with Blackpool five minutes away you can always pop out in the day and be back for the evening entertainment. An ideal week for you.

We loved our time at Marton Mere and would like to thank the Team for all their hard work and congratulate them on making our stay and hundreds of others, the best Easter ever!

Well done Marton Mere and thank you!
